1. Introduction
Tranzia ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our web application, mobile application (iOS and Android), and related services (collectively, the "Services").
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: Email address and authentication credentials when you create an account
- Route Queries: Origin and destination addresses you enter
- Community Reports: Safety reports you voluntarily submit, including category, description, and location
- Contact Information: Email address if you contact support
2.2 Location Data
- Precise GPS Location (Mobile App): With your permission, we collect your precise GPS coordinates to show safety scores for your current area, display nearby safety data on the map, and detect your city automatically. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
- Background Location (Guardian Link): If you activate a Guardian Link session, we collect your location in the background so trusted contacts can view your live position. Background location is only collected during active Guardian sessions that you explicitly start, and stops when you end the session. You can revoke background location permission at any time in your device settings.
- Approximate Location (Web): On the web application, we infer approximate location based on your IP address (not precise GPS).
2.3 Automatically Collected Information
- Usage Data: Search queries, routes viewed, interaction patterns
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, browser type, IP address
- Cookies (Web): Session cookies for functionality (no tracking cookies)
2.4 Third-Party Data
- Google Maps API: Route, transit, and mapping data
- Public Safety Data: Anonymized crime and incident statistics from government sources (NYC Open Data, TfL, etc.)
2.5 On-Device Storage
We store certain data locally on your device, including your safety mode preferences, city selection, route history, and authentication session tokens. This data remains on your device unless you sign in, in which case authentication tokens are used to communicate with our servers.
3. How We Use Your Information

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
4.1 We DO NOT Sell Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
4.2 Guardian Link Location Sharing
When you activate a Guardian Link session, your live location is shared with anyone who has the session link. You control when sharing starts and stops. Location data from Guardian sessions is retained for the duration of the session and automatically deleted afterward.
4.3 We Share Data With:
